« About That 1981 Assassination Attempt On Pope John Paul II. | WILLisms.com | Jimmy Carter's Tackiness. » Trivia Tidbit Of The Day: Part 10 -- Historical Presidential Approval Ratings.HISTORICAL PRESIDENTIAL APPROVAL:
Source: -Page 109 of American Public Opinion: Its Origins, Content, and Impact, written by Professors Robert S. Erikson and Kent L. Tedin. A couple of points to make. 1. The graph's numbers are based on Gallup polls and averaged quarterly. In individual polls, the numbers would fluctuate even more wildly than they already do. For example, Jimmy Carter polled just above 20% in a single poll during the 1970s, but during that 3-month period, he was still above a 30% average. 2. Harry Truman was an incredibly unpopular leader at the time, although history judges his far better. The primary factor that kept his approval relatively high was the Korean War. Just something to keep in mind.

I remember him telling me that he never thought he would ever have voted any other way until he voted for Ronald Reagan! He voted for Jimmy Carter the first time. I remember saying that I thought that Jimmy Carter was a very nice man, and he just looked at me kind of funny and that is when he said " I never voted any other way but Democrat, but I won't be voting for a Democrat this time!" Posted by: Claire at April 8, 2005 02:41 PM Jimmy Carter you have to give him credit for something...He is from Georgia and that is where the Masters is played! I don't know exactly how far Plains Georgia is from Augusta but that golf course in Augusta sure has beautiful azaleas! Posted by: Lola at April 8, 2005 07:08 PM |
