A Pope has been elected, with at least a 2/3 majority of the College of Cardinals, in stunningly rapid fashion.

How do they make all that smoke, anyway?

Joseph Ratzinger is the new Pope.

His new name: Benedict XVI.

Pope John Paul II will be a really hard act to follow! Although it seems the crowds are excited! I would think the new Pope might be a bit reluctent to step in after Pope John Paul II...A new era begins!

I'm eagarly awaiting the emergence of our new pope! You're right - I think it would be hard not to convey the excitement among the crowd gathered at St. Peter's Square. It would be incredible to be there and share in the world's anticipation of the announcement.

Was Ratzinger actually a 'nazi'? Only members of the nazi party were nazis - Ratzinger was in the Hitler Youth which was not the same thing. He was also in the wehrmacht, but that would not necessarily have made him a nazi either.

Please debunk the idea that he was a 'nazi' - that is all you are going to hear about the guy from the MSM for the next few weeks.
