But, then again, I 1) still like Bush and 2) am not all hot and bothered my immigration, so what do I know?

I thought it was a good speech. I just don't think using the NG is a great idea, especially now when they already have two missions and are expected to maintain civilian jobs (and family) in the process.

Conservatives that have become estranged by GWB really don't have a viable option. It'd be good if they did but if they think Democrats will be better regarding immigration, taxes, SPENDING, the War on Terror (I shudder at the thought) then they've got another thing coming.

The details of the National Guard assistance were finally reported. The "summer camp" of 15 days (two to three weeks) will be used under already obligated "days and dollars" for annual field training. Most of the assistance will be technical and/or construction by C. E. units. This is a good use of the National Guard and is a win-win situation.
