« Whaling Nearly Becomes Legal Again | WILLisms.com | America Is Losing The Chocolate Race » Quote Of The DayFrom Dave Price, regarding Christine Rosen's critique of An Army Of Davids: Rosen then misstates Instapundit's laconic news/opinion aggregation as "vacuity," a category error if I've ever seen one. This is like complaining that your car lacks a mizzenmast and tends to take on water in heavy seas. . . . or like thinking that Rush Limbaugh is a 'journalist'. Many error-prone critiques of blogs do indeed arise from confusing the 'blog mission' with scholarship, journalism, or some other enterprise. And much of the ire towards blogs arises from thinking that blogs are trying to muscle in on these territories. But blogging has its own 'blogic' or blogging logic (trying to coin a phrase here), that is more spontaneous, personal and (ideally) self-correcting than those other enterprises. It is a different animal altogether. Posted by Ken McCracken · 20 June 2006 03:12 PM CommentsI like the blogic behind that. (I am just trying to use your new word) Blog hosts are not journalists, or at least they don't have to be. Blogs are more news worthy sometimes though...All blogs are not created equal. Posted by: Zsa Zsa at June 20, 2006 06:34 PM Blogs can be journalism sometimes - but they do not have to be. Freedom is perhaps the greatest thing about blogs. Posted by: Ken McCracken at June 20, 2006 06:48 PM WILLisms.com had a great journalistic blog post on the Fake Iran elections...Does journalism require doing the actual foot work your self? Posted by: Zsa Zsa at June 21, 2006 07:41 AM Yeah I think so. Just relaying news and commenting on it is not journalism.
