Quote Of The Day, Chirping Crickets Edition

If Israel sent the IDF three kilometers into Lebanon and started digging trenches and building bunkers it would make news all over the world. But Syria does it and everyone shrugs. Hardly anyone even knows it happened at all.

This story does indeed seem to have passed below the radar screen. A 'rightwing' dictatorship invades a democratic neighbor, violating its sacred sovereignty. Where are the screeching liberals on this one?

Apparently the silent left and the MSM approve.

Of course, as the real journalist pointed out to Totten, the Syrians are fumbling around in some remote area of Lebanon. It's not as if they're conducting airstrikes against Lebanon as Israel is wont to do periodically.

You know, it isn't like the Israelis are reacting to provocations like their soldiers being kidnapped, or their civilians being shelled, or anything like that.

No . . . the JOOS just like to practice bomb runs on the peaceloving Hezbollah, whom I am sure Jadegold is more than willing to defend as well, given his track record for backing thugs.

And Totten has a schtick? Yes, independent and detached reporting is a schtick these days I guess, because Totten has the temerity to diverge from Jadegold's predigested views.

I guess actually being on the ground there, knowing the players, and knowing the region is a schtick.

The fact is Syria's incursion into Lebanon is deeply unserious. Contrast that with bombing urban populations.

And, yes, Michael Totten is all about schtick. He's just another failed writer who's discovered there is a niche in telling rightwingers what they want to hear.

Yes, Michael Totten is a failed writer who has a schtick. The schtick is to pretend he's a liberal who is deeply offended by all that liberals believe. A liberal who believes the neocons are always right. As a result, Totten gets his articles published in TCS--a rightwing astroturf blog.

As for Walid Jumblatt--why would anyone want to interview him?

Totten's problem is that he's reached a conclusion beforehand and then creates justifications for that conclusion. That's why he gets published in such high quality outlets like TCS and FrontPage.

He is only leader of the fricking Druze is all, not like he is some minor player in Lebanese affairs.

He's a warlord who derived all his support from his dead father. He changes allegiances probably more frequently than you change your underoos.

I've no interest in interviewing Jumblatt any more than I'd be interested in interviewing David Duke.
