His name bounced from Sugar to Leo to everything in between over the weekend, but it looks like it has finally landed on Fearless Forbes Flat-Tax Franklin. Forbes, for short. He is a golden retriever puppy, born at the end of May: ![]() Forbes is a feisty little bugger for such a little guy, full of self-confidence: ![]()

-------------------------------------------------- Posted by Will Franklin · 5 August 2007 09:14 PM CommentsForbes sure does miss Heidi! ... He needs her to tire him out so he will sleep all night again. Posted by: zsa zsa at August 6, 2007 05:41 AM Heidi is beautiful. Forbes is really cute. Good for you Zsa Zsa. We just got back from the lake with Scruffy and my Heidi. They love it there. Scruff Dog will jump into the water from the pontoon but Heidi is content to just bask in the sun. Posted by: carol at August 6, 2007 11:10 AM Nice looking dogs. A little time in the pool sure keep 'em from chewin' on stuff. Wears them out. Probably barely could whimper on the way home. Posted by: Justin B. at August 6, 2007 11:14 AM Forbes loves to surf! He is so funny about the raft... He goes for his first doctor visit today. I hope he doesn't cry. He really misses Heidi. Posted by: zsa zsa at August 6, 2007 12:14 PM Yeah, Heidi was inordinately tired, even this morning. Posted by: Will Franklin at August 6, 2007 01:09 PM That is too funny! She would not admit how tired she was when she was here. What a cutie girl... Tell her we miss her! Posted by: zsa zsa at August 6, 2007 01:21 PM I'm just glad that you guys counter all that cat blogging out there with those fine looking dogs. Posted by: Rob B. at August 6, 2007 01:37 PM I just went swimming for the first time with my German shorthaired pointer this weekend. He's six months old. After jumping right on top of me (scratches!), he kept swimming right up to me. I didn't know if he wanted me to take hold of him, swim alongside of him, or let him rescue me (he did grab my wrist a few times). Can't wait to try it again. Posted by: John at August 6, 2007 02:44 PM Clearly only sub-retarded bushbots would love animals that should naturally be out in the wild away from man's constraints and republikkkan ownership. As the smartest man ever, I know that true companionship lies with kitties. And only the company of all 47 of my cats can protect me from Rove's evil mind rays... and the war in Iraq. [/Jadegold] Posted by: Hoodlumman at August 6, 2007 03:46 PM John, He probably wanted to rescue you... Forbes just wanted me to cuddle him in the pool. Posted by: zsa zsa at August 6, 2007 04:18 PM Beautiful dogs. I am partial to retrievers, love Golden Retrievers and Labs. Hoodlumman, Posted by: Eneils Bailey at August 7, 2007 06:16 PM EB...Have you tried swiss cheese? OR is he just partial to cheddar? That is too funny! HA... I had a horse once who thought he was a cow. Posted by: zsa zsa at August 7, 2007 08:15 PM ZZ, I can give the chug cheddar but Mister Willford will hack up cheddar cheese in five minutes. Posted by: Eneils Bailey at August 8, 2007 06:10 PM EB...They sound like they might be a tiny bit spoiled... I like that name mister Willford! Posted by: zsa zsa at August 8, 2007 07:38 PM ZZ, Actually, when I toke possession of Mister Willford, the lady I got him from swore it was a female. I named the cat Thelma Lou, because I prefer female animals. It became apparent after a few week weeks that the cat's budding manhood forced me into an appropriate gender identity. Therefore, Thelma Lou quickly became Mister Willford. I had to take the cat out for a night on the town and offer an apology for my mistakes. Posted by: Eneils Bailey at August 8, 2007 07:56 PM That is too funny! Uh... EB, You are sure he didn't secretly have a sex reassignment? Did you take him to get a drink? (Of milk?) Posted by: zsa zsa at August 9, 2007 06:27 AM ZZ, Mister Willford did undertake any secret sexual reassignment, I forced him into it. I guess in the world of sexual assignments, he is now officially classified as None. Posted by: Eneils Bailey at August 9, 2007 07:59 PM AaaaH... Poor guy! BUT it is actually the kind thing to do. It is so sad to see all the cats and dogs that are put to sleep each year... He basically got a vasectomy. Forbes will be going in for one of those in the near future.
